2021 –  2022 Season Lineup

Stage North is very excited to announce that we are back and ready to announce our 2021 season!! 
 
For the Brainerd sesquicentennial, we have hired playwright Roger Nieboer (of Baby Face fame) and local composer Don Gorham to write a humorous, musical, historical play based on the history of Paul Bunyan.  The show: Paul Bunyan: The Man, The Myth, The Musical will be performed at the Franklin Art Center this Fall. Performances are October 8,9,15,16 at 7:30 P.M. and October 10 and 17 at 2 P.M. Tickets go on sale August 1st. Call 218-232-6810 for ticket information. Auditions will be at the Franklin Auditorium on August 20 at 7 P.M. and August 21 at 3 P.M.
 
Also this year: A Christmas Story. Dramatized from the popular 1938 movie, the play is set in the 1940’s. A young boy named Ralphie attempts to convince his parents, his teacher and Santa that a Red Red Ryder BB gun really is the perfect Christmas gift. Performances are December 16, 17, 18, and 19 at the Franklin Art Center. Auditions dates and times TBA.

We are already looking ahead to 2022! If all goes as planned, Anything Goes, The Crucible and Annie will be performed in 2022. Check out our website for audition and performance dates.

Anything Goes

Anything Goes is a 1934 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The story revolves around the madcap antics concerning a public enemy aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. The musical introduced such memorable songs as “Anything Goes”, “It’s Delovely”, “Your the Top”, and “Blow Gabriel Blow”.

Auditions: January 14 and 15
Performances: March 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26.

The Crucible

The Crucible is a 1953 play by American playwright Arthur Miller. It is a dramatized and partially fictionalized story of the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692/93. It is regarded as a central work in the canon of American drama.

Auditions held August 19 and 20
Performances: October 21, 22, 28, 29.

Annie

Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written , including “Tomorrow”
